Let’s kick off our list with a favorite of the RC community. And that is ANNIMOS Digital Servo.
As the name indicates, it is a digital servo. Now, what is a digital servo?
It’s not like a digital servo looks different from an analog one. It does look quite identical when you look at it externally. But, when you get on the inside, you’ll feel the difference!
It has a faster response/reaction time due to the voltage pulses. Yep, the microprocessors in these servos work really well at directing them. The result of which is a constant torque throughout your usage.
So, when you hold this servo against the analog ones, it’ll provide consistent torque. That’s a good thing.
But, another good thing is the weight factor. When you look at the other servos in the list, you’ll see that this one is lighter! Due to this reason, the 1/10 buggy will move faster too.
Because the weight will never provide any sort of hindrance or resistance. So, when you’re racing this doesn’t hold back your buggy.
On the other hand, this servo is quite stable and accurate as well. This is mainly because of the precision potentiometers in it. Plus, it comes with a lower noise factor and it’s completely waterproof as well.
For these features, you can take your buggy outdoors, a little splash won’t damage your servo, after all!
When it comes to the durability of this servo, it’s made of aluminum so it’s lightweight and strong! Plus, it resists corrosion and rust.

Even though we praised a lot about the control and the rotation factor of this servo. It still requires a bit of improvement. The highest rotation upon our resting was 255 degrees. So, you might wanna look at the next one for even better control- “Zoskay 35Kg Motor Servo”.
ZOSKAY 35KG Motor Servo
Jumping from a 20 to a 35kg servo. This one is from the brand- ZOSKAY. If you’re thinking of getting a heavy/powerful servo, this one will suit you best.
Be it weight or durability- this one will top off all your requirements (mostly). Let’s see what’s the hype is all about-
We’ve talked a bit about the durability factor of this servo. Well, it’s made of tough aluminum, steel, and copper. For this reason, it’s tough, alright!
Another thing to notice is that it comes in a 35kg torque rating. This is the highest on the list. Also, this makes it the fastest servo in the list as well.
It comes with a 5-7.4V operating voltage. When you’re looking at the 5V, the torque is 29 kg/cm. And, when it is 7.4V, it’ll have a torque of about 35 kg/cm. Here, the speed will be 0.13sec and 0.11 seconds at their voltages.
So, it’s fast! But, there’s a problem! Have you noticed it yet? Well, it’s huge! We’re talking about the size of the servo. This is one chunky boy! It comes in a 5.08 x 4.13 x 0.91 inches dimension and a weight of 3.2 ounces.
For this weight, we could consider this as a heavyweight option easily. And, this means it can easily weigh the buggy down. Even though it’s a fast servo, the 1/10 buggy won’t go that fast! The bulkier size limits the option for compatibility as well.
Lastly, it has better control. We’ll thank the coreless motor for this reason. It’s great at turning. Also, with a higher torque rating, we really like this one!
Room For Improvement
Now, this product is heavy. We’ve talked about that. It’s fast but not lightweight. So, if you’d like a lightweight product, you won’t find any other than the “Annimos 20kg Digital Servo”.
WEISE DS3218 20 KG Digital Servo
The third product on the list is the 20Kg Digital Servo from the brand- WEISE. It’s a higher torque option with a lower weight which is quite different from the previous product.
While the previous one came at a 35kg torque, this one comes at a 20Kg option. But, you gotta consider that this is a heavier option as well.
So, it’ll balance out. Still, it has lower torque and hence we placed it a place lower than the previous one. It comes at 18.5kg-cm @5V. And, the max torque will be 21.5 kg.cm at 6.8V.
Also, the angle of control is 270-degrees. So, it’s kinda easy to control. The standard size is 40 x 20 x 40.5 mm.
It’s a durable option and it’s got CNC aluminum dual ball bearings.
Room For Improvement
It’s a heavy product. Hence, you might wanna check out the “Annimos Digital Servo” for a lightweight option.
BETU 25KG RC Servo
Moving a bit up in case of the weight factor. It’s time to talk about the 25kg Servo from BETU. Well, this one is perfect for you 1/10 buggy. Let’s see the reasons-
Starting off, this one is lighter than the ZOSKAY product we’ve reviewed in the list. It comes in a 2.64 Oz of weight which means it won’t weigh down your 1/10 buggy. Here, the dimension is 1.57 x 0.78 x 1.59 inch.
Now, let’s look at the torque rating of this servo. It has a torque of 21 kg-cm @5V. Other than that, there’s a 24.5 kg-cm torque for 6.8V. So, it’s fast enough! With the lower weight, it’ll allow the buggy to go faster. But, it isn’t the fastest on the list.
Besides, it’s durable due to the strong aluminum construction. There’s an iron core motor as well. And, there’s a CNC middle shell made of aluminum.
Lastly, there’s a less noise factor and an entire metal gear. And, the degree of control is 270o.
Room For Improvement
The heat dissipation isn’t the best. It’ll require some sort of improvement. So, you might wanna check the “ZOSKAY 25KG Digital Servo” as that one has a better heat dissipation.
ZOSKAY 25KG Digital Servo
We end this list with a ZOSKY 25Kg Digital Servo. There was a ZOSKY product previously on this list. You could consider this as a smaller version of that. But, it’s missing some key features. Hence, we’re pushing it down in the list. What’s there to focus on? Let’s check-
First off, you’ll find tons of similarities between this one and the previous product from the same brand. Let’s get those out of the way. Like, it has the same build quality. That’s a good thing as this one is durable.
But, apart from that, this one is lighter than the previous ZOSKAY product. But, it has a lower torque as well. It comes in 25 kg.cm of torque (6.8V). Remember, it has a range of 4.8V-6.8V.
In the end, it has a better heat dissipation which means it’ll last longer. But, we really wished that it had better controllability.

It has only a 180-degree control angle. Hence, it requires improvement in this sector. You could go for it’s heavier counterpart- “ZOSKAY 35Kg Servo”.
How To Choose The Perfect Servo For Your RC
Well, it’s quite important now to choose the right servo for your RC. Mainly because of the availability of a huge number of options.
But, it’s not even that! You’ll need to look at some factors before getting the perfect servo for the RC. So, below, we’ve compiled the considerations-
The Size of The RC
It is not hard to comprehend that the size of a servo needs to be appropriate to the RC. I mean, how can you fit a servo that is meant for a 1/10 buggy in a 1/16 buggy.
Usually, the standard size for a servo is 40mm (length)X 38mm (height) X 20mm (width). This is generally used in 1/10 or ⅛ buggies.
However, there is a subdivision in this standard size. Those servos are called ‘Low-Profile’ servos.
Now, what exactly is a ‘Low-Profile’ servo?

How quickly your buggy responds to your command depends on the speed of the servo.
It’s true- the faster the servo, the quicker the response.
For an on-road car, you need a servo that will respond in 0.1 seconds or faster. However, the timing can change when you are driving an off-road buggy.
An off-road buggy should have the ability to respond within 0.15 seconds. The heavier the car will be the slower its response time will be.
So, to be safer you should buy a servo that has a speed of 0.2 seconds or below.
Don’t Forget About The Voltage
The next feature of a servo that you cannot just ignore is the voltage of the servo.
Voltage is what gives your servo the ability to do all the demanding tasks.
Now, usually, a servo runs on 6 volts. But it can vary depending on what kind of battery you are using.
For instance, if you are using a 2S LiPo battery without a BEC, you may need a servo that has a 7.4 V voltage.
You should pay special attention to the demand for the voltage. Because a servo may run on lower voltage. However, a lower voltage will stunt its efficiency.
Choose Metal Gear Servos
The durability of a servo depends on its gears.
Metal gear ensures more durability than plastic gears. However, you can choose a plastic gear servo if your buggy is lightweight.
But we would highly recommend a metal gear servo if your goal is bashing through off-road tracks.
Make Sure It is Water-proof
An off-road 1/10 buggy is expected to do some heavy-duty bashing through the muddy tracks.
So, it is crucial that your servo be capable of handling that.
In such a case, a water-proof servo is a way to go.
It is not like this feature increases the ability of your servo. However, it does work as a safety net for you.
You can bash away without having to worry about the consequences of your action.
Your servo is protected by its ability to resist water. And that’s all the assurance you need to be fearless on the road.
Digital Servo vs Analog Servo: Which One is the Best?
It is difficult to differentiate between a digital servo and an analog servo just by looking at them. Externally they are nearly identical. In fact, even on the inside, both have almost the same features. Both have the same type of gear, the same three wires to connect with the receiver.
So, what is it that makes them different?
The real difference is hidden inside the circuit board. From the basic standpoint, both the servos have their differences in processing information. They even have different signals in them.
Let’s make this a bit clear for you-
Basically, the digital servos have a smaller microprocessor in them. This will work at receiving and even directing the action at a higher level of frequency of the voltage pulses.
Also, the digital servo even sends almost 6 times pulses when you put it up against an analog servo.
The benefit of the faster pulses means that the servo provides consistent torque all the time. And, you need this consistency for having a swift and smooth response time. But, you’ll need to keep one thing in mind.
With this power, you’ll have to sacrifice some things. Basically, the swifter pulses will require additional power emission.
Now to the topic of analog servos. They might look the same. But, there are some differences when you hold them against a digital servo.
The entire servo is based on the signal of voltage. These do come through with PWM (pulse width modulation). The difference is noticeable here, mainly.
Normally, the PWM is off all the time when the servo is resting. Still, the torque can be produced from the rest mode. But, here’s the thing! When the torque is produced, the reaction time gets a bit sluggish.
Compared to the digital servos, this reaction time is slower. The delay in the reaction isn’t the best if you’re thinking of using the servo in a more advanced function.
We’ve done the head-head comparison. We now know that the digital servos are better as they’ll provide a swift and smooth time of response. But, that said, they’ll take in more power. As long as you don’t have a problem with that, the digital servos will be your winner.
